Feel Like a NetRunner in HackNet

Yesterday I was going through the hundreds of unplayed games I have sitting in my Steam and Humble Bundle libraries. While doing so I came across HackNet which I thought would be a fun time waster. I have played a couple similar games like Uplink. That game is fun, but not nearly as much fun as I am having with HackNet.

It has a real simple DOS looking interface in which you download programs to hack into other machines. You have a special hacker network where you can pick up jobs that tell you what the target is and what exactly you need to do. Sometimes you are just looking for a password and other times you are deleting files that someone "no longer needs".

I love the meta aspect of games like this. It makes you feel so powerful and is the best way to immerse yourself into a game. Now HackNet isn't necessarily Cyberpunk.. But it definitely gives you a cool feeling of actually being a NetRunner.

I think the interface adds to that feeling. It's such a generic look that it could potentially be taking place at any time. If you love the cyberpunk genre as much as I do, I think you will really enjoy this game. I haven't completed it yet, but it is a perfect way to pass the time.
